REFLECTIONS

The Magic of Reflections

Reflections are the city's way of showing you a version of itself it did not plan.

A shop window on Passeig de Gràcia doubles the street and scrambles the perspective. A puddle after rain turns an ordinary pavement into something painterly. A glass facade stacks two buildings into one impossible structure. None of this was designed to be photographed — which is exactly why it is worth photographing.

This is probably the gallery that says the most about the way I see. I have been collecting reflections for years, in Barcelona and in every city I visit. They never get old.

Most of these reflections were found within a few streets of home — Passeig de Gràcia is an endless hall of mirrors if you walk it slowly. But the habit travels well: London doors, Manhattan windows, Calatrava's Oculus — and then always back home, where the gallery ends where it began.
